About the Island:  Mackinac is a car-free island. First travel by car to Mackinaw City (Lower Peninsula of Michigan) or St. Ignace (Upper Peninsula). From there, scheduled ferryboat service is available throughout the day. Once on the island, walk, bike or take a horse-drawn carriage ride to explore stores, candy shops and restaurants. Activities on the island also include golf, tennis, bocce ball and croquet.
